El sábado volví a Londres. Londres es sólo buenos momentos. Last Saturday I came back to London. London is only good moments.
Tomando el té en Londres no puede pasarle a uno nada malo. Bandejas de tres pisos de comida exquisita, té a raudales, salones espléndidos llenos de personas elegantes. Todos parecen felices. De hecho, todos son felices, benditos y felices, en ese momento detenido y en ese lugar del mundo. La vida real y sus feos, grises problemas se han quedado fuera. He probado el té del Savoy. Lo sirven en el Thames Foyer: Having high tea in London nothing bad can happen to you.
Three-tier trays loaded with exquisite food, all-you-can-have tea, splendid parlors full of elegant people.
All of them look happy. Actually, al of them are happy, blessed and happy, in that moment stopped in time and in that place in the world.
Real life, along with its ugly, gray problems, has been left outside.
I have tried the Savoy's afternoon tea. It is served in the Thames Foyer:

También en Richoux, sólo porque Fortnum & Mason estaba totalmente lleno. I also tried Richoux, but only because Fortnum & Mason was fully booked.

¡Pero siempre volveremos al Ritz! Pura excelencia. Nunca jamás nada malo pasó allí. Quien piense que el Ritz es snob, estirado o sólo para ricos se equivoca. El Ritz, como todos los establecimientos excelentes, envuelve a los comensales en calidez, haciéndolos sentirse cómodos y como en casa. ¿Caro? No más que una comida en muchos restaurantes, ciertamente menos deliciosa y en salones muchísimo menos encantadores. A 42 GBP, es un capricho que merece la pena darse al menos una vez en la vida. O al menos una vez al año. O un par de veces al año. En fin, cuando uno pueda. But we will always go back to the Ritz! Pure excellence.
Nothing bad ever happened there.
Whoever thinks the Ritz is snob, stuck-up or only for the rich is wrong.
The Ritz, just like any excellent establishment, surrounds its guests in warmth, making them feel comfortable and like at home.
Expensive? Not more expensive than a meal in many restaurant (which normally ends up being less delicious and served in way less charming parlors).
At GBP 42, it is a treat worth to be self-offered at least once in a lifetime.
Or at least once a year.
Or a couple of times a year.
Anyway, oh well, anytime one can.

En Londres, lo extraordinario se mezcla con lo corriente. In London, the extraordinary blends into the ordinary.
Las tiendas parecen museos. Los museos parecen tiendas. Yo no puedo comprar ni en los unos ni en las otras, pero me los bebo con los ojos, y salgo igual de contenta que si hubiera comprado algo. Shops look like museums. Museums look like shops.
I can afford none, but I drink them through my eyes, and I leave as satisfied as if I had bought something.

Todo tiene un fin y toca volver a casa. Menos mal que en el Eurostar saben suavizar el golpe. All things come to an end and it is time to go back home. Luckily in the Eurostar they know how to soften the blow. Even with vegan food!
